Biographical Sketch:

Michael J. Gootzeit is a Professor of Economics at the U of Memphis. His doctorate is from Purdue Univ and he teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses including the History of Economic and Monetary Thought. Some representative publications are: 1. David Ricardo; in series, "Columbia Essays on the Great Economists," New York and London, Columbia University Press, 1975. 2. "Wicksell vs the Classics on the Mechanics of the Quantity Theory," American J. of Economics and Sociology, (58:3), July 1999, 481-86. 3. "Marshall’s vs Wicksell’s Theory of the Cumulative Process," History of Economics Review, (29), Winter 1999, 16-30.
