Biographical Sketch:

Alonso Aguilar Ibarra is a full-time researcher and professor on economics of the primary sector and the environment at the Institute of Economics Research, Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico. He has a multidisciplinary academic background and his interests are therefore to understand and analyze both the ecological and economic processes which influence the environment. Current projects involve the analysis of use and non-use values of water quality in Mexico City, non-point source water pollution control instruments, and the institutional framework of environment-related agencies. He has peer-reviewed papers on the management and conservation of water quality and aquatic resources, and has been consultant for both the Organisation for Economic Development and Co-operation and the Mexican government.
