Biographical Sketch:

Andrea Bassanini is an Economist at the Economics Department of the OECD Secretariat in Paris that he joined in November 1998. In 1998, he completed a Ph.D. in Economics at "La Sapienza" University in Rome, after having done graduate studies in Oxford, Stanford and Vienna. His main field of research is economic growth. Recent work undertaken by Andrea Bassanini includes theoretical modeling of technology choice and its consequence for economic growth, comparative analysis of productivity and innovation patterns in OECD countries as well as of the sources of economic growth with special attention to the role of human capital.
