He obtained his Bachelor of Economics (Hons) from Universiti Utara Malaysia (Northern University of Malaysia). Then he completed his Master of Economic Management at Universiti Sains Malaysia (University of Sciences Malaysia, USM). In addition to that, Mr. Tang has written extensively and published his research in major international and domestic peer review journals namely Economics Letters, Journal of Economic Studies, Energy Policy, EconModels.com (Journal of Policy Modeling web publication), Global Crime, ICFAI Journal of Public Finance, Malaysian Journal of Economic Studies, Labuan Bulletin of International Business and Finance and International Journal of Management Studies.
