This paper aims to construct the gender inequality profile of Togolese households based on the (α,β) - multi-level α- Gini decomposition. The study uses the most recent country survey (QUIBB 2006) and expenditure per adult equivalent is determined through Lachaud's equivalence scale. α = 3 is exogenously fixed and corresponds to a high degree of inequality aversion embodied by the within-group and between-group components. Different values (between 1 and 4) are assigned to β and this represents the sensitivity towards between-group non-overlappings (transvariation). On the first and second level of partitions, the results with the Lachaud equivalence scale show similarities compared to those from the Oxford scale. This is not the case by applying the FAO/WHO scale and considering expenditure per capita |
