Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Vaqar Ahmed has worked as an Economist with the ADB, WIPO, Teagasc - Ireland, Poverty and Economic Policy Network Canada, and Ministries of Finance, Planning and Commerce in Pakistan. His current research focuses on development of quantitative tools for evaluation of taxation and trade reforms. He teaches Trade Policy Modeling at the National University of Ireland. He was selected as a Team Leader for Pakistan Taxation Reforms Evaluation Project being conducted under the guidance of International Development Research Center (IDRC) and University of Laval, Canada. His PhD students are working on impact of global financial crisis, socio-economic impact of HIV/AIDS, evaluation of regional integration agreements, developing regional social accounting matrices, and labor market inequalities. At Planning Commission Pakistan, he is Deputy Chief of Macroeconomics Section. He is also a technical associate in the various economic taskforces constituted by the Prime Minister of Pakistan. |
