Biographical Sketch:

Jacques Silber is Professor of Economics at Bar-Ilan University, Israel. He holds a Ph.D. (1975) from the University of Chicago. He was Visiting Professor in various Universities in Europe and the U.S. He has been the Founder and Editor-in-Chief (2002-2007) of the Journal of Economic Inequality. He is the editor of a Handbook on Income Inequality Measurement (Kluwer), of The Many Dimensions of Poverty (with N. Kakwani, forthcoming, Palgrave-Macmillan) and of Quantitative Approaches to Multidimensional Poverty Measurement (with N. Kakwani, forthcoming, Palgrave Macmillan). He is the author of The Measurement of Segregation in the Labor Force (with Y. Flückiger, Physica Verlag). He published more than 80 articles in international academic journals.
